Kiafa house is a small two-building dwelling located on the highest neighbourhood of the island of Hydra.

It was conceived as a sanctuary for its inhabitants, as well as a place to entertain their guests and exhibit their art collection.

Muted tones were used throughout the project to give way to an intricate combination of local craftsmanship with modern joinery. Traditional hydriot materials such as stone were paired with oak, brass and marble. Each material is elegantly repeated throughout the project and reappears in different forms. Naxos marble is introduced as a mat shower floor, to come back as a glossy table top.

That interplay of different treatments to the same material is evident in the project and aims to create a simple, yet playful house.
